SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP

The PERC Status Epilepticus Special Interest Group (SE-SIG) brings together a collaborative community of clinicians, researchers, and trainees dedicated to advancing knowledge, improving care, and driving innovation in the management of pediatric status epilepticus.

Our mission is to transform the care of children with status epilepticus through collaborative research, clinical excellence, and the dissemination of evidence-based practices.

This website serves as a central resource for updates on ongoing studies, shared clinical protocols, educational tools, and opportunities for collaboration across institutions and disciplines.

Jennifer Gettings BMBS FRCPC

Boston Children’s Hospital,

  • Jennifer Gettings BMBS FRCPC is an Attending Neurologist at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Instructor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. As a Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. Gettings specializes in Neurocritical Care, Epilepsy, Neonatal, and Fetal Neurology. She is dual fellowship trained in Epilepsy and Neurocritical Care.

    Her clinical and research interests lie in finding treatments for complex neurological challenges in the ICU, where she focuses on status epilepticus and EEG monitoring, including quantitative EEG. Dr. Gettings is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Harvard University. She is motivated by a desire to improve health systems and outcomes for critically ill children through data driven quality improvement and evidence-based policy. 

    She received her medical degree from the University of Limerick in Ireland. She completed residency in Pediatric Neurology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada followed by fellowships in Epilepsy and Neurocritical Care at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gettings holds board certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with special qualifications in Child Neurology and Epilepsy, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Neurology, and the Canadian Society for Clinical Neurophysiology in EEG.

Babitha Haridas, MD

Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
Baltimore, Maryland

  • Dr. Babitha Haridas is a board-certified pediatric epileptologist and neurologist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She specializes in caring for children with drug resistant epilepsy, using both medical and non-medication therapies such as the ketogenic diet and epilepsy surgery. Her research is focused on children with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) and status epilepticus.

    She completed her medical training at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in India. This was followed by pediatric and pediatric neurology residency training at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a two-year epilepsy fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore MD. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Johns Hopkins and the Co-Director of the Epilepsy Fellowship program there. Her passion lies in improving the quality of life and long-term outcomes for children with drug resistant epilepsy and their caregivers.

Danielle deCampo, MD, PhD

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

  • Danielle deCampo, MD, PhD, is a pediatric epileptologist and Assistant Professor of Neurology at Children's Hospital with research interest in ICU EEG monitoring, NORSE/FIRES and genetic etiologies and predispositions of refractory status epilepticus.
